A Chicago native, Garrett Matthews started to play the drums at the age of 11 after being inspired by one of his best friends. As Garrett recalls, “Back in the day I watched one of my buddies sit down and practically implode on his set. After witnessing how much fun he was having and how much skill it took, I was hooked.” Shortly thereafter Garrett started taking drum lessons and began his musical career. Eight years later he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and then Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, CA.

Anyone that has ever spent five minutes with Garrett will tell you that the art of music is in his soul. The youngest member of the band, Garrett’s enthusiasm is contagious and his positive energy remains an anchor point for the creativity of the band. As Garrett reflects, “I have been blessed to find three other people with the same motivation and love for music. What more can I ask for right now?”

Garrett was a member of the band from Summer 2006 through Fall 2007. He moved back to his native Chicago in November 2007.
